Robert John Henry Carew

Major Robert John Henry Carew was born on 7 June 1888.2 He is the son of Lt.-Col. Robert Thomas Carew and Constance Charlotte Mary Creagh.2 He married, firstly, Leila Vernon Macan, daughter of Sir Arthur Vernon Macan, on 3 April 1915.2 He married, secondly, Dorothy Petrie Townshend, daughter of Colonel George Robert Townshend and Petrie Wisdom, on 25 July 1936.1
He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2He fought in the First World War in 1914.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1917.2 He gained the rank of Brevet Major in the 1st Battalion, Dublin Fusiliers.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) in 1919.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1920.2 He gained the rank of Deputy Assistant Quartermaster-General in the 27th Division.2 He lived at Ballinamona Park, County Waterford, IrelandG.1
