A Donegal family, from Ballymacool outside of Letterkenny, they are originally of Kilmarnock in Scotland.
Originally PORTER, they took Boyd to claim an inheritance, where the founder changed his surnames to his mothers.
We are related, according to SS O Duibhgean, through the Smyths, Catherine from whom these are decended, and Mary from whom we are descended.
