The Woman and Children on the Wall

While down at Willie Carty’s, dad told of an apparition he saw of a woman and children dressed in really old clothes sitting on a wall.

The woman was dressed in rags as were the children, but of a style not current when they were seen. He shouted hello, the woman did not acknowledge him, but one of the children smiled.

On looking away, and then looking back, thinking it odd, there was no sign of them. He walked to the wall and looked up and down, but there was no sign of them, and no where for them to have gone.

The road was one passed on the way to the workhouse, and its a common enough story from around the country of similar apparitions of those who died while passing an area.
